The urban bodies in the federal state of Madhya Pradesh have been divided into 26 clusters for solid waste management. Plans have been provided for setting up 6 WtE plants as well as 20 composting sites across the state. According to The Daily Pioneer, plants in Sagar, Jabalpur and Ujjain have already been implemented, while new units in Bhopal, Katni and Rewa are in the development stage. The WtE plant in Jabalpur has a capacity to generate 11.5 MW of electricity. As further stated in the source, around 7,212 tonnes of solid waste is produced daily in Madhya Pradesh’s 383 municipal bodies. Of this, 525 tonnes of waste is being used daily in RDF plants and MRFs, and around 462 tonnes of waste is being recovered everyday.
