Plans for biogas facility in Madurai

There are plans for a new biogas plant in the city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu. As reported by The Hindu, the Madurai Corporation plans to build the 50 tpd facility in Vellakkal, processing hotel and market waste. When operational, the plant should produce 1,500 kg of biogas per day. As the source further indicates, the Madurai Corporation is currently evaluating the practical feasibility of bottling methane as well as ways to increase the fuel’s calorific value.
