Gujarat University is to construct a biogas plant to be fed with kitchen waste from nearby residential colonies, hotels and restaurants on its campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as Ahmedabad Mirror reported. The waste to be processed by the future facility should be collected either with the support of NGOs (the source does not provide information on certain NGOs) or with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Moreover, the source does also not comment on the future plant capacity. However, as the source indicates, 10,000 tons of input material may be processed into almost 1,000 kg of methane. The amount of methane to be generated by the plant, as further stated, could even exceed 1,000 kg.
