Plans for new waste recycling plants in West Bengal

According to The Telegraph India, a 20-acre plot has been selected for setting up a waste recycling centre for processing waste from New Town, Bidhannagar and three boroughs of the city. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been appointed as the advisor for the development of the plot. PwC would also determine the type of facilities to be set up at the centre. The project has already received a “permissive permission”. There are also plans for a waste recycling centre in Patharghata in Rajarhat. The site would have a material recycling facility (MRF) to recycle dry waste, construction and demolition waste. An incineration facility is also planned for the site.
