Plans for new WtE plant in Bhalswa

According to the Deccan Herald, plans provide for building a new WtE plant in Bhalswa as part of the initiative “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission). The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD) has announced to cooperate with the Austrian city of Vienna for technical assistance. North MCD has not yet received sufficient funding from the Centre under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Further funding might be allocated for the next financial year, which might lead to project delays. The future plant should be processing or burning over 90% of the waste generated in the vicinity. The remaining waste volume is planned to be converted into bricks. The 1,550 tpd plant should generate 24 MW of electricity.
