Plans for small-scale biogas plant in Madurai

According to The Hindu, the City Corporation of Madurai, Tamil Naud, southern India, is working on plans to set up a small-scale biogas plant at the Thathaneri cremation and burial ground. The plant is estimated to have a capacity of 5 tpd of garbage and a capacity of 300 m³ of gas every day. The gas will be used as an alternative to woody biomass to burn the corpses at the crematorium. The plant is currently under construction and will cost about INR 50 million (EUR 623,670).
