Proposal: SPV to purchase electricity from WtE plants

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy has proposed to set up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to purchase electricity from WtE plants and resell this power to interested entities.

The SVP should include the Solar Energy Corporation of India, the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, and private companies.

The reason for the proposal is that WtE projects in India face delays in entering into PPAs. According to the Committee, the SPV would ensure a guaranteed purchase of power and encourage companies to invest in the WtE sector.
