Ramky bags north Chennai contract

Ramky Enviro has bagged a tender to manage waste collection and transportation in the north Chennai. Starting February, the company will be incharge of waste collection and transportation in Thiruvotriyur, Manali, Madhavaram and Ambattur zones.

Ramky was previously involved in waste collection and transportation in these zones since 2012, until Spanish waste management firm Urbaser Sumeet took over in October 2020. Ravi Shanmugham, project head of Ramky Enviro Engineers, informed The Times of India that Ramky plans to recruit 4500 workers for door-to-door collection, purchase 1200 bins and 810 battery operated vehicles this time, apart from using existing national urban livelihood mission workers.

Meanwhile, Urbaser Sumeet will continue its operations in the rest of Chennai.
