The Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, has announced that the expansion of the city’s WtE plant was approved. The INR 120 million (EUR 1.3 million) project aims to make the plant self-sufficient in terms of electricity and to sell the power it generates.

Due to a number of technical defects, power generation has not been on track so far. The plant processes 80 tpd of waste into RDF, which is supplied to cement companies.
