Renewables on the rise in 2017

In 2017, India has for the first time added more energy capacity from renewables than from fossil fuels, as was reported by EcoWatch. With 11,788 MW, the increase of renewable energy was more than twice the growth of conventional energy (5,400 MW). 9,009 MW was attributable to solar power. Biomass, small-scale hydropower and WtE accounted for 657 MW. The source does neither provide information on the exact increase in capacity regarding WtE nor on how much of the installed WtE capacities are incinerating MSW.
