Although the proposed RDF unit in Secunderabad Cantonment (in the surroundings of Hyderabad, Telangana) got the green light from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and financial assistance was secured, the project had to be set on hold due to local protests, the Times of India reports. PEC Limited, who was awarded the contract to construct the plant, has already bought the machinery from USA and is now awaiting handover of land for the installation. The only land that the Secunderabad Cantonment Board can offer is located too far away to realise the project.
