Secunderabad RDF project halted

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has halted plans to set up an RDF unit in the Secunderbad Cantonment, a military site in the state of Telangana. According to The Times of India, this is due to strong local opposition, which was sparked by the plant’s proposed location near a community hall. The RDF unit was estimated to cost around INR 500 million (USD 7.5 million) and supposed to be part of a broader waste management scheme. SCB is now looking for alternative project sites.
