Srinagar WtE project still on hold

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is still looking for contractors to set up a waste-to-energy plant which shall generate 5MWel from waste at the Achin dumping site. According to the Solid Waste Management Officer, a company that submitted Expression of Interest had a disagreement with the Power Development Department over the cost of power purchase. Hoping to find contractors, the Officer emphasizes the plant’s feasibility which was examined during a study by the National Green Tribunal. As stated, the latest bid to invite contractors has attracted 11 companies. This was reported by the Kashmir Monitor.
