Ten biogas plants closed

As reported in issue 04-2017, the small-scale biogas plant in Domlur has been shut down because Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the administrative body for civic and infrastructural assets of the Greater Bangalore metropolitan area, and the operator are tussling about refused payments for salaries and maintenance and fulfilling of obligations. As reported by The Hindu, apart from the facility in Domlur, another 9 plants that had been commissioned in 2014 were shut down. Waste that was handled at these plants is now processed at plants many kilometres away. Concrete reasons for the shutdowns have been not disclosed.
