Thiruvananthapuram’s proposed Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant remains in limbo with the city corporation still not convinced about the feasibility of building a new centralized WtE plant.

The Times of India reports that the state government’s continuous insistence for a WtE plant, along with pressure from the Pollution Control Board (PCB) forced the corporation to consider a WtE plant, even as it continues to campaign for decentralized waste management.

Barely ten days ago, it had been widely reported in the media that the Thiruvananthapuram authorities had decided to set up a WtE plant within corporation limits, following a show-cause notice from the PCB.
