Two new WtE units for Bengaluru

Two WtE facilities are planned in the villages of Kannahalli and Mavallipura within the city region of Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore), Karnataka, according to the Deccan Herald. The plants should each treat 160,000 tons of waste annually and invitation for tenders have already been published. According to the Urban Development Minister, the government is preparing regulations to set up the WtE units. As announced further, a cluster of the cities of Mysuru, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalaburagi should be created for the development of the projects. The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has fixed a rate of Rs 7.04 (9.9 EURct) per unit and Rs 7.09 (10.0 EURct) to procure power generated at WtE or RDF-based power production units respectively.
