Update on development of India’s NBP

An update has been shared on the progress of Indian biogas plants that were developed under the National Bioenergy Programme (NBP).

To date, six bio-CNG plants and another 11,143 small AD plants have been commissioned under the NBP. The six CNG plants are reportedly located in Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. The small AD plants are mainly located in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Punjab.

The NBP has a budget of INR 17.15 billion (EUR 188.3 million) and is scheduled to run until March 2026.
