Update on Bandhwari WtE plant

After a public hearing on 21 March, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has submitted its report regarding the Bandhwari WtE plant. Apart from the advantages of the plant, the report contains demands, objections and concerns expressed by green activists and villagers, as reported by The Times of India. Environmentalists argue that Solid Waste Management Rules from 2016 might be violated by the WtE plant and that clearance requirements of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for diversion of forest land and Aravali plantation for any non-forest activity are not fulfilled by the Bandhwari landfill.
