To expedite the construction of a WtE plant in Ghaziabad, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to purchase land on its own and hand it over to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation. The decision comes after private developers failed to hand over 16.8 acres of land for the site. According to the article published by the Hindustan Times, the GDA will now purchase the land directly from farmers. The planned WtE facility would produce 15 MW of electricity and process 1,000 – 1,500 metric tonnes of solid waste daily. The investment costs are estimated to amount to INR 2 billion (EUR 27 million).
