According to The Times of India, the Kochi WtE project seems to be facing another delay, as the land on which the new WtE facility is to be built, seems to consist of paddy land to around 25%. A report on this issue has not yet been submitted but this discovery might affect the future of the project. The paddy land would need to be converted into dry land in order for construction works to begin. Moreover, the quarrels between the Kerala State Electricity Board and the Kochi corporation are still holding up the project: The tariff for the electricity, which is to be generated at the new plant, has still not been decided over.
