Overruling objections raised by the State Paddy and Wetland Monitoring Committee against the reclamation of paddy land for the WtE plant in Brahmapuram, Kochi, state of Kerala, the state government has given consent for the land conversion. According to The Hindu, the plan aims at reclaiming 15.78 acres of the Chellipadam paddy field of the Puthenkurishu village in Kochi. Private company GJ Eco Power Private Limited had proposed to set up a WtE plant as a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-and-Transfer project at an outlay of INR 3.75 billion (EUR 47 million).
