According to a report by The New Indian Express, the Government of Kerala is in talks with Delhi-based AG Dauters Ltd. for setting up a 20 tpd waste gasification pilot plant in Munnar, Idukki. Two acres of land have been identified for developing the plant as a PPP project, at a cost of around INR 400 crores. Another 300 tpd WtE plant in Kozhikode is planned to be set up on a 12-acre site, with technology to be decided by the construction company. The state government is planning to set up similar projects in 12 locations within 2 years. The generated electricity will be fed to the electricity grid at a fixed rate determined by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
