Urbaser Sumeet to manage waste at Chennai stadium during IPL

Waste management company Urbaser Sumeet has partnered with the M A Chidambaram Stadium and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to manage waste during this year’s IPL. Waste will be sorted at source and from designated stands during the matches, with recyclables sent to appropriate facilities and the rest allocated for composting.

Plastic use inside the stadium will be limited, and fans will be encouraged to use cloth bags and banners. Green and blue bins will be easily accessible for the disposal of dry and wet waste.

A similar effort was undertaken during the India-Australia match at the Stadium on a pilot basis. During the match, around one tonne of waste was produced, with water being sold in paper cups.
