Verbio and Indian Oil sign MoU for biomethane joint venture

Germany’s Verbio and Mumbai-based Indian Oil Corp. have recently signed an MoU on setting up agricultural compressed biogas and biofuels projects in India.

A JV is in the works to develop the plants for producing biomethane (CBG and BioCNG), bioethanol, and biodiesel, reports Verbio.

As further reported by Verbio, the 20 MW biogas project in Chandigarh, Punjab, is expected to start operations in the upcoming weeks. It shall produce 30 tpd of compressed biogas and 100 tpd of fertiliser to be distributed to local farmers. Feedstock shall consist of 100,000 tpy of paddy straw and other agricultural waste. The plant is located at a former sugar plant in Rakhra, in Chandigarh’s Patiala district.

Verbio has entered the Indian market in 2016, with its subsidiary Verbio India Pvt Ltd.
