Kannur Corporation is planning to replace the landfill at Chelora with a WtE facility, similar to the 11.5 MW WtE plant in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, which has been operational since 2016 and has an annual capacity of 220,000 tonnes. As reported by The Hindu, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (KSIDC) will be responsible for establishing the WtE plant.
