Construction work at the WtE gasification project at the Ghazipur landfill has not commenced yet, as the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is waiting for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent ministry. In August 2018, EDMC signed an agreement with AG Dauters for building the plant, which will process decomposed waste from the Ghazipur landfill. As reported by The Times of India, 50 MW generation capacity will be set up in a pilot testing phase for processing 200 tonnes of waste daily. The capacity will eventually be increased up to 560 MW for processing 1,500 tonnes of waste daily. Earlier, the Ghazipur landfill site was intended to be closed 15 years ago and then collapsed in 2017.
