Adani Ports and Especial Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) has received environmental and coastal regulation zone approvals from a governmental agency to build a ship recycling facility at its port in Mundra, Gijarat. As reported by livemint, the proposed facility would have a size of about 40.7 hectares and could be able to recycle ships of up to 16,000 light displacement tonnage (LDT) or 80,000 dead weight tons (DWT) cargo carrying capacity. It is expected that the facility could recover approximately 0.3 million tons of metal annually. However, further detailed information on set-up costs or the planned start of operations remained undisclosed.
