Bhubaneswar civic body’s innovative idea to encourage waste segregation

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will put up “thank you” notes on the doors of city residents who segregate waste at their home. On the other hand, ‘Request messages’ will be put up for those residents who do not segregate.

The BMC hopes this innovative messaging will make people aware about the importance of segregation at source, as per a report in The Times of India.

According to the BMC’s waste management rules, dry and wet waste should be kept in two separate bins so that when waste collectors come to collect it, they pick and store the dry and wet waste separately.
