Biogas plant discussed in Pimpri-Chinchwad

A biogas facility could be constructed in city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has invited bids for collection, transportation, preliminary segregation and shredding of hotel waste. The plant should be built as a PPP project and the potential bidder should finance the construction and operation of the plant for 20 years. PCMC has already envisaged a 2,000 m² area at the Moshi garbage depot. According to The Times of India, a total of 750 to 800 metric tons of solid waste is being generated in Pimpri-Chinchwad each day, 50 tons of which is hotel waste.
