Biomedical & COVID waste to be cleared soon, assures Goa Waste Corporation

After being pulled up for dumping of bio-medical and other COVID waste at Sonsoddo landfill, the Goa Solid Waste Management Corporation (GSWMC) has assured the Margao Municipal Corporation (MMC) that the waste will be lifted immediately.

Nearly 150 trucks of COVID waste is dumped at Sonsoddo, as the MMC claimed it has no other option to further deal with the waste, reports The Herald.

Sonsoddo has been grappling with waste backlogs, which is problematic for the landfill management authorities. As reported last month on SolidWasteIndia, bioremediation is underway at full swing in Sonsoddo where the GWMC wants to clear up land for a waste management facility.
