Goa’s Waste Management minister Mr Michael Lobo has announced that the state government will float a new tender for the establishment of the solid waste management plant at Bainguinim within fifteen days. Mr Lobo informed The Times of India that the tender document is ready with some changes in earlier criteria.

As SolidWasteIndia had reported last month, the project was delayed since no bidder was found eligible by the Central Public Work Department (CPWD). The state government is, thus, issuing a fresh tender with modified criteria.

The Rs 200 crore plant is expected to cater to the entire Tiswadi taluka. It should host units for sorting, segregation, bio-methanation and composting of waste. Last month the three bidders had been disqualified, after which the GWMC started a fresh tendering process.
