Biomethanation plant in Coimbatore to commence operations in April 2019

Foundation works have been completed at the construction site of a biomethanation plant in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. According to The Times of India, the project located near the RS Puram farmers market is expected to be completed by April 2019. When completed, it can process 1.5 tonnes of organic waste from the market as well as two other wards to produce 100 units of electricity daily to power the market. The plant costs INR 42 lakhs and is funded by the Swiss Development Corporation.
