The proposal for the Deonar WtE plant in Mumbai, Maharashtra, has been accepted by the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), according to Hindustan Times.

Currently, the plans are being reviewed by the state-level expert committee. In July 2021, as it was reported by SolidWasteIndia, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) planned to appoint a Project Management Consultant (PMC) to supervise the construction.

The contractor for the 4 MW, 600 tpd WtE plant was appointed in November 2020. However, work on site has not yet begun.
