Chandigarh biogas projects failed

According to The Times of India, three biomethane projects which were proposed for the City of Chandigarh have not yet been realised. Plans for the projects are dating back years. According to a recent news report, the city’s municipal corporation (MC) has failed to operationalise the plants planned to be built at different locations. The facilities were expected to process kitchen, hotel and restaurant waste for producing energy. The city currently disposes of all of its waste at the Dadumajra landfill site. The garbage situation in Chandigarh has worsened after the closure of its only waste processing plant in Dadumajra.
