The Kozhikode Corporation has decided to cancel two contracts related to the stalled WtE project in Njeliyanparamba in Kozhikode district, Kerala.

They include the biomining contract with Zonta Infratech as well as the contract for the construction of the WtE plant with Malabar Waste Management Private Limited.

The former was cancelled, since Zonta Infratech was not able to complete the biomining works despite several extensions of the contract duration.

The latter was cancelled due to the uncertainty of the project, as stated in the source. According to information from September 2023, there are efforts to replace the WtE project with a natural gas project. The current source does not mention this.
