Almost a week after the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) ordered its concessionaires to collect only segregated waste, the agencies continue to collect mixed garbage.

More than half the compactors are transporting mixed garbage to Bhandewadi dumping yard, as per NMC’s SWM department’s data. Of the 1,200MT garbage the city generates every day, the agencies are dumping over 70 percent mixed waste at Bhandewadi, reports The Times of India.

The NMC has said that fines will be imposed on the agencies AG Environment and BVG India if they continue to dump mixed waste at the landfill.
