In the case of insufficient waste management from local authorities, the federal government of India has announced to undertake this task in the future. If the local authorities do not implement this municipal responsibility, the state can reclaim an amount from the local offices. Furthermore, the government would then establish agencies for the collection and transport of solid waste, financed by a gap funding. According to The Hindu, the aim is to install adequate waste disposal facilities in all local corporations with at least 50,000 residents.
