Gujarat announces new WtE policy

The Indian state of Gujarat has announced a new policy to promote WtE solutions. Under the Gujarat Waste-To-Energy Policy 2016, urban local bodies (ULBs) will be required to provide land at a token leasing rate to WtE developers. Furthermore, ULBs should be banned from imposing taxes or royalties on WtE plants. Additionally, the Gujarat Energy Regulatory Commission (GERC) should fix a specific feed-in tariff for electricity generated through WtE. It is also planned to exempt WtE plants from electricity duties and cross subsidy surcharges. These benefits are planned to be provided for a period of 25 years to each WtE project. This was reported by DNA India.
