Hindalco to build new aluminium recycling unit in Mundra

Aluminium and copper producer, Hindalco Industries, has announced investments for its sites in Hirakud (Odisha), Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu) and Mundra (Gujarat), as reported by The Times of India.

At Hirakud, the plant’s flat rolling capacity shall be increased to 340,000 tpy. The source does not comment on the plant’s current throughput. Moreover, a new 34,000 tpy extrusion unit is planned at Silvassa, while in Mundra, a new 93,000 tpy extrusion and recycling unit is to be installed. The proposal for Mundra is currently awaiting its land acquisition process.

In 2018, Hindalco announced plans to build a new aluminium recycling and extrusion plant in Kutch, Gujarat. Investments for the proposed 300,000 tpy recycling plant were said to reach INR 1,500 crores and INR 2,100 crores were dedicated for a 137,000 tpy extrusion plant.
