Hyderabad: Automated waste collectors in Hussainsagar Lake

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has announced its decision to deploy automated solid waste collection systems at four locations in Hussainsagar Lake. This is expected to reduce the flow of suspended solid waste from four upstream nalas into Hussainsagar lake.

The HDMA has invited tenders for the supply, installation, commissioning and testing of automated trash collection systems at four different locations including manning, operation and maintenance for five years around Hussainsagar.

These automated systems are designed to manouver the lake debris for easy recovery with perforated belt designs and help remove the floating surface debris, while allowing the water to pass and keep the lake clean.

Currently, removal of floating material in the middle of the lake is being done through floating trash collectors, reports The New Indian Express.
