The Indore Municipal Corporation has become the first civic body in India to ink a pact with producer responsibility organisations (PROs) authorised by the MP Pollution Board for disposing of plastic waste.
Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal inked MoUs with PRO institutions including Satyamitra Sales and Trading Company, Innoplaster Technological Moonstar Enterprises, Kubera Ecosystem, Nepra Environmental Solutions, Basant Polymers, Recycling West and Hoswin Incineration.
The first installment of plastic waste was collected recently and handed over to the PROs. IMC reportedly got Rs 7.5 lakh at the time of signing the pact, according to the Free Press Journal.
