Mars Group to take over Chandigarh RDF plant operations

The Chandigarh RDF facility, previously operated by Jaypee Group (JP), was now taken over by the Mars Group, according to Tribune India. This follows a contract dispute between JP and the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (CMC) over tipping fees, which led to a temporary plant closure earlier this year. As part of a settlement, the Mars Group will pay a salvage value of INR 300 million (USD 4.5 million) to JP. CMC is also planning to set up a 400 tpd WtE facility, for which Mars Group seems to be its project partner. As stated, CMC officials recently visited a WtE plant set up by Mars in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. It is not clear what kind of technology this WtE plant should use.
