A biogas plant in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, will be upgraded to produce bio-CNG, as the Tech Mag reported. The operator is IOT Infrastructure and Energy Services Ltd., a joint venture between Hamburg-based logistics company Oiltanking GmbH and state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. The upgrade will cost about INR 25 crores (USD 3.51 million, EUR 3.07 million). Production of about 12 tpd of bio-CNG is expected to start in July 2019. IOT is also in talks with suppliers of agricultural waste to be used as feedstock as there are plans to set up five additional biogas units in the next three years, which are estimated to cost up to INR 65 crores (USD 9.13 million, EUR 7.98 million) per unit.
