After a fire struck the Ghazipur landfill in East Delhi on 15 October, the local administration is now intensifying its efforts to build a new WtE facility at the Ghazipur site, NDTV reports. According to government officials, the process of setting up the plant has begun already. The facility is expected to process around 2,000 tpd of waste, when its becomes operational. The Ghazipur landfill is currently closed due to the fire and a recent collapse. It receives around 2,500-3,000 tpd of waste and has been accepting waste ever since 1984. There is already an RDF incinerator in Ghazipur, which burns 416,000 tons of RDF per year.
