Officials from Chandigarh made visit to unsuitable waste plant

On 22 June, 10 councillors and officials of the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) have visited a waste processing plant in the city of Ambala, Haryana to study technology for processing dry waste.

However, as further reported by Hindustan Times, it turned out the respective facility accepts wet waste only, while Chandigarh requires technology for dry waste. Reportedly, the MC has been seeking ways for upgrading its waste processing plant for almost one year. The source does not comment on the exact location of this plant.

The opposition leader, Devinder Singh Babla, has criticized the visit for being a “total waste of money and energy”.
