Two paddy straw biomass projects in Punjab are facing delays and are now expected to become operational in 2022, as reported by The Times of India.

This includes a 10 MW project in Fatehgarh Sahib and a 4 MW facility in Nakodar, both originally slated for completion in June 2021. Reasons for the delays, according to officials, include on the one hand the COVID-19 pandemic. On the other hand, stakeholders are said to be losing interest in the projects, due to the state power sector seeking power at lower prices.

As further reported, Punjab currently has 11 BtE plants operational, generating a total of 97.5 MW per year.
