Update on Brahmapuram WtE project

A meeting which will be led by the Chief Minister of Brahmapuram, state of Kerala, will be held this week at Thiruvananthapuram to finalise the allocation of the remaining four acres of land for Brahmapuram WtE plant, The Deccan Chronicle reports. GJ Eco Power Private Limited had won the bid to set up a waste-to-energy plant in Brahmapuram. The company requested 20 acres of land for constructing the plant of which 16 acres have already been allocated to it. The remaining 4 acres are yet to be cleared due to documentation. The company plans to complete the construction of the WtE facility in 18 months, although the state government had asked whether works could be finished in 12 months. The plant will have a treatment capacity of 300 tonnes of waste per day and will generate 5 to 6 MW of electricity per day.
