Update on envisaged WtE plants in Bengaluru

According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the city of Bengaluru may be home to new WtE plants soon. Sources differ on whether two or four new facilities are to be set up. The most favoured locations for the new compounds are the waste dump sites at Kannahalli and Mavallipura. Yelahanka and North Bengaluru are two other likely locations. The planned facilities should have a power generation capacity of around 40 MW each and an intake capacity of 500 tpd of waste. According to the source, Times of India, the BBMP has already launched tenders for the projects. Furthermore, the new WtE plants will serve to process RDF that has been piling up at several waste plants in the Begaluru region over the course of the past years.
