Update on Guntur WtE project

According to The Hindu, the WtE project close to the Naidupeta Mandal landfill, Andhra Pradesh, is making progress. On 6 February, an MoU was signed between JITF Urban Infrastructure Ltd and 9 urban local bodies, including the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) and its counterpart from Vijayawada. GMC expects the project up and running within 18 months from now. It will be producing energy by using a minimum of 1,200 metric tons of solid waste per day. The electricity will be sold to SPDCL at INR 6.5 per unit. JITF would in turn receive subsidies of INR 1.5 crore per MW by the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP).
